THEMIS Level 2 GMOM file info:
Combined moments (GMOM) from the Electrostatic Analyzer (ESA) and Solid State Telescope (SST): The Level 2 (L2) file contains ground-processed electron and ion energy fluxes (ions/electrons, approximagtely 5 to greater than 300 keV) and moments (density, velocity, pressure, and temperature). The file includes FULL, REDUCED and BURST modes for ESA, and FULL and Burst modes for SST, with moments calculated for the combinations of ESA Full-SST Full (variables denoted 'ptiff', 'pteff' for ions and electrons), ESA Reduced-SST Full (variables denoted 'ptirf', 'pterf' for ions and electrons), and ESA Burst-SST Burst (variables denoted 'ptibb', 'ptebb' for ions and electrons). FULL mode: high angular resolution, low (few min) time resolution in slow-survey mode, high (approx. 3 sec) in fast-survey mode. REDUCED mode: degraded angular resolution, high (approx. 3 sec) time resolution. BURST mode: high angular resolution, high time resolution, but only short bursts of data. Velocity moments are given in Despun Spacecraft (DSL), Geocentric Solar Eclipse (GSE) and Geocentric Solar Magnetospheric (GSM) coordinates.
