Meeting Information

The 2013 Spring THEMIS Science Working Group Meeting will be held at Fairbanks, Alaska from March 25-28, 2013. Maximizing the value of THEMIS and ARTEMIS can only be achieved by including science coordination with the vast amount of observations that have become available from other geospace missions and from ground-based facilities, as well as from modeling studies. It also requires consideration of the full magnetosphere-ionosphere-thermosphere system. We thus are expanding our focus this year to include such coordination and considerations.

The meeting will focus on the following areas, and include coupling with the ionosphere and thermosphere:

▪ Dayside and polar cap science and the lunar environment
▪ Nightside dynamics
▪ Radiation belt dynamics

Since March is an excellent time to observe aurora in Fairbanks, the organizers of the meeting will facilitate excursion to the Poker Flat Observatory on any night when skies are clear. From there you have will full views of the aurora with a minimum of city light pollution, capability for luxurious viewing from a heating room, as well as ready access to a multitude of state-of-the art real time data sources.

The conference will be held at the Westmark Hotel in Fairbanks, Alaska. A room block has been established at the following special rates:
